This week, you will write a paragraph defending the conflict opposite the one you chose last week. I am still looking for a well-developed paragraph (like we practiced together in class), but if you wrote about man vs. self as the conflict last week, you'll write about man vs. society this week, and vice versa.
If you need to, go back to last week's assignment to refresh your memory.
I think that the conflict of the story is man vs. self. I think this because Stargirl is being treated badly and Leo has to decide to help her. I also think this because Leo must choose between Stargirl and the student body. The conflict is most likely this because Leo might lose a friend which will effect himself.
ReplyDeleteIam defending man vs society because, evrybody in school thinks she is different, she also cheers for bothteams at the basketball games. They really do not appreciate all that stargirl does for thier town.
ReplyDeleteI think the main conflict is man vs. society. I think that because when somebody threw the tomato at stargirl and when people abused stargirl on hotseat,Leo was fighting the student body trying to keep then from hurting stargirl (mentaly not physicaly). Also when people where shunning stargirl, Leo was fighting society from being shunned himself because he hung around stargirl so much. Finally, when Leo was the only person who understood what stargirl was doing (closer to the begining) he was versing the school trying to get them to understand stargirl like he does.
ReplyDeleteThe reason that the conflict could be man vs society is Leo has to deal with the consequence of being a friend of Stargirl. The school is giving her the silent treatment. But Leo is caught in the middle of it because He hangs out with Stargirl. If he chooses to sty with Stargirl then he will have to deal with other kids not liking him.
ReplyDeleteThis is a man vs.society conflict becase,Leo has to vs. the student body with the silent treatmen.Leo has to vs society with going out with Stargirl.Leo cant go to the Mica mall because he feels everybody just gives him the silent treatment.Thats why this is a man vs.self conflict.
ReplyDeleteThis is also a Man V.S Self conflict because now, Leo has to choose between his friends and peers at MAHS V.S Stargirl. I remember from the book, Leo said that he knew the answer to the question, he just did not want to think about it. Because of this, I am thinking he will choose all of his friends unless Stargirl changes and everyone likes her again.
ReplyDeletei think the conflict in star girl this week is man vs self , i think it is man vs self because this week leo is thinking about what is going on with star girl and him self.that is why i think the conflict in star girl is man vs self.
ReplyDeleteLast week I had chosen man vs society. Today I will explain why I think it was man vs. self. I think it is man vs self because Leo has to fight with a force within himself. Leo has to decide if he will choose his beloved Stargirl, or choose his friends.
ReplyDeleteI think its man vs. society because a lot of problems that are occurring are with others, which would make it a man vs. society conflict. But another reason is because everyone is not talking to Leo or Star girl because they are going out. Which would make it man vs. society.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict in stargirl is man vs self because leo has to decide stargirl or his peers at mica high school.I remember in the book senor sargo asked leo who affection do you value more and I think leo gonna pick his friends because he knew them longer.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Man Vs. Self last week. I think it's Man Vs. Society now because no one is talking to Leo or Stargirl because they’re going out at this point of the story.
ReplyDeleteI think its man vs self because leo is prolonging between making a decion
ReplyDeleteLast week I chose MAN V.S. SOCIETY. For today I will tell you why I chose MAN V.S. SELF. I chose MAN V.S. SELF because Leo in the story Stargirl, has to chose to be with Stargirl or all of the other people so he is fighting himself for the answer.
ReplyDeleteThis week i picked man vs society because people are shunning Leo and stargirl. The first reason why is because the kids at Mica High are shunning stargirl just because stargirl is cheering for the other team. The second reason why i think it is man vs society is because when Leo said hi to anyone they ignored Leo. The final reason why i think it is man vs society because no one gives Leo or stargirl no atention.
ReplyDeleteStargirl is a man vs. self conflict because now Leo has to choose between his friends at Mica Area High School or Stargirl. I remember that Leo knew his answer to the question but he didn't want think about it. Because of that, I think that Leo will choose all of his friends unless Stargirl changes her behavior and acts like everybody else.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a Man vs. Society because everyone is denying Leo and when ever he is with Stargirl it feels like (to him) that they are ignoring him directly when actually they are aiming the ignorance to Stargirl, except she does not notice it.Leo has to fight the society so that he can be happy with Stargirl and the society, He wants and needs the attention so that he can feel noticed.
ReplyDeleteThis week I think it is man vs society. because now Leo has to figure out which one he want more Stargirl to like him are the school to like him.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned last week that the conflict in "Stargirl" was man vs. society.
ReplyDeleteEven though I still have beliefs in that theory, it CAN be man vs. self when you think about Leo only. For example, he (Leo) needs to choose who he appreciates more: Stargirl or the student body. It's a hard decision because if Leo goes with Stargirl, the students will rebel against him. If Leo goes with the student body, Stargirl will wonder why Leo isn't with her anymore. The number of rocks in Stargirl's "happy wagon" would go down , and think the wagon hints that Stargirl KNOWS what other people do, and she'd realize that Leo doesn't want to be with her.
Last week i chose man vs. society. But this week i chose man vs. self. I chose man vs self, because now its something inside of leo that is telling him to chose. Leo has to chose between Stargirl or his friends. He has to over come the voice in him self that is telling him to do the opposite of what he needs or wants to do.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict is man vs society
ReplyDeleteOne reason it could be man vs society is everybody dislikes stargirl . At the basketball game someone threw a tomato at stargirl in the face because they thought she was cheering for the other team but she wasn't she was trying to the school feel better because they were losing.Another reason it could be man vs society is because Everyone is ingoring stargirl and leo giving them the silent treatment. (stargirl doesn't seem to notice this see this only leo does). The last reason it could be man vs society at the beginnng of the story leo only understood stargirl no one really understood her so leo was trying to show everyone that she can be just like them
I think the main conflict is man vs. socity. I think that because everyone is ignoreing Leo because he is around Stargirl. He either has to deal with being ignored or leave Stargirl so he will be talked to. So now Leo is stuck trying to decide between his friends or stargirl. That is whny i had chosen Man VS. Socity.
ReplyDeleteI think that the conflict is man vs. self because the student body is treating stargirl really bad and leo but leo went archy. And archy said "them or her" and now leo is stuck between a situation and has to pick between stargirl or the student body. And if he picks stargirl he will lose his best friend kevin and no one will talk to him anymore. But if he picks his best friend and the student body then he will lose stargirl and he really doesnt want to lose her but at the sametime he doesnt want to lose his best friend and the student body. And thats why i think that its man vs. self.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict of Stargirl is man vs society. I think this because everyone dislikes Stargirl even after all the random acts of kindness she did for everyone. I mean sure you can get annoyed by her but she's only trying to help other people. Which is what she wants most for everyone to be happy. It seems that everyones overlooking all the goodstuff she did like yes she did cheer for the other team but that was before "hotseat" and after "hotseat" she did basicly stop. Also everyone is blaming her for the Electrons losing in the playoffs. It wasnt her on the court so how can she take the blame? Cheerleaders affect how the crowd would react but not the final score. She couldnt control them losing and everyone needs to relize that.
ReplyDeleteI think a conflict in "Stargirl" is mn vs. society. I think this because the Mica student body is shunning Leo for being Stargirl's Boyfriend. It is also man vs. society because everyone is making Leo choose between his girlfriend Stargirl and his friends at Mica. That is why I think a conflict in "Stargirl" is man vs. society.
ReplyDeleteLast week I wrote about mav vs. society so this week I think that the primary conflict in Stargirl is man vs. self because I think that Leo is batteling a force within himself trying to decide whos affection he values more, Stargirl's or there's. I also think the primary conflict is man vs. self because if Leo decides he values Stargirl' s affection more then he will loose all his friends and most likley become invisible to all of the student body. If Leo chooses the student body's affection then he will loose Stargirl whom he really likes and might even love. Leo is afraid to ask Stargirl if she could change the way she is because honestly I dont think he minds, he just afraid of loosing his friends, Leo is even afraid to talk to Stargirl about the idea of everybody giving them the silent treatment and her not even noticing let alone caring. That is why I think the primary conflict is man vs. self.
ReplyDeleteThe conflict in Stargirl is man vs. self. I think this because, Leo was given a choice; he can choose to stay with Stargirl, or choose his friends and other students at Mica Area High School. Leo was asked who's affection he valued more, Stargirl's or his friends. Earlier I thought that Leo was going to choose Stargirl, but now I think he is getting sick of his decision and he is going to choose his friends. Unless Stargirl changes her actions and behavior, then that will effect Leo's choice.
ReplyDeleteI Think it is man verses society because Leo trys to protect Stargirl from the student body. For example on Hotseat the kids in the jury were yelling nasty comments to her and Leo tryed to stop it. At the basket ball game someone threw a tomato and Leo didn't stop it but he felt really bad. Now Leo is is fighting the student body with himself because all of them are ignoring him. That is why I think it is man verses society.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict is man vs self because leo has to choose between friends and Stargirl. Also leo has a lot of mixed feelings about stargirl so its hard for him.
ReplyDeleteI think the the conflict is man vs self because Leo likes being around Stargirl but he also likes his papulation so he has to choose between stargirl or his population and his bestfriend Kevin.I also think that because is leo's decision who he wants to choose, people are'nt making the decision for him, people are giving him a choice and it's up to him to make the correct one.
ReplyDeleteThe conflict of Stargirl is man vs.society. I think this because the whole school is giving the silent treatment to Stargirl, and Leo gets involved since he starts hanging out with her. Also Leo feels like he is invisible to every student at Mika Area High school. Finally Leo keeps getting in the spotlight (center of attention) and he doesn't like it at all.
ReplyDeleteI think that the conflict of Stargirl is man vs. self. I have this opinion because Leo has to make a choice between his popularity and Stargirl. This is going to be very hard for him because which ever one he chooses he will feel like he is missing something. I also think that this is a man vs. self conflict because when Leo went to talk to Archie, Saguaro asked Leo who's affection did he value more, her's, or their's. That shows that he is going to have to have a battle within himself, and that is an example of man vs. self.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict in Stargirl is Man vs self because at this point one reason I think that man vs self would be the conflict because now when Stargirl has kissed Leo and Leo is getting closer to Stargirl, it's getting difficult for him to choose, because as fast as Leo gets closer to Stargirl it gets more difficult for him to choose between Stargirl and his friends(society). The second reason I that that Man vs Self is the conflict is because the author that when Archie told Leo that Senor Saguaro said, “Who’s affection do you value more hers or theirs?" made Leo fall into thinking and again he ha to battle with himself to make a decision between Stargirl an his friends(society). The third reason I think that Man vs Self is the conflict because when Leo saw shoulders passing him it made feel bad and difficult for him to choose between Stargirl and his friends(society).Because he wanted his friends and Stargirl.
ReplyDeleteI'm now defending the man vs self conflict. One reason this is a man vs self conflict is Leo has to decide who's attention he enjoy's more, the school kid's or Stargirl's. Another reason this is a Man vs self conflict is Leo needs to change to be a bit more like Stargirl but he keeps holding himself back. The final reason this is a man vs self conflict is Leo is refusing to choose between Stargirl and the kids at school and trys not to think about it. This is how I'm defending that there is a man vs self conflict.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict is man vs self because Leo has to decide who he needs more Stargirl or the student body. Also Leo has to decide who he wants to be with Stargirl or the student body.My final reason why I think the conflict is man vs self is because Archie ask Leo who affection's he value's more.
ReplyDeleteLast week I wrote about Man vs Society. This week I think the conflict is Man vs Self because Leo is confused about how he feels about Stargirl. He is having a hard time within himself trying to decide what to do. Leo is not sure if he loves Stargirl or not. He knows that if he chooses her over the school then he will continue being shunned. So Leo isn't sure whether or not he should continue going out with Stargirl. These are the reasons why I think the conflict this week is Man vs Self.
ReplyDeleteI think the primary conflict is man vs society. One reason, is that the society (student body) is giving Stargirl the silent treatment. But now since Leo is "starboy" the student body is giving Leo the silent treatment as well. Another reason the primary conflict could be man vs society is that Leo has been trying to protect Stargirl from the student body but he has been longing for attention, so the student body is getting in the way of him and Stargirls relationship. Also I think it could be man vs society because the student body is treating Stargirl and Leo very coldly by pretending they are invisible (besides Dori, Kevin and a couple others).
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict is man vs self because Leo has to decide if he wants to choose society or not. Also he is having a hard time deciding thing about Stargirl.Leo doesn't no if he should hang with star girl and be shunned or just leave stargirl and have a normal life. Its man vs self because Leo is having problems within his self and thats why I think the conflict is man vs self.
ReplyDeleteThis week im going to do man vs self. The main reason i think it is man vs self i because of what leo has to choose. What he has to choose is his friends or stargirl. I think this is a man vs self because it is a very important decsion to take the pain for stargirl or not. That is why it is man vs self
ReplyDeleteI am now defending the title of Man vs. Society. I defend this conflict because right now as Leo is going through his stage of contemplating to himself and thinking about things like Senior Saguaro’s question: “Who’s affection do you value more, hers or theirs?" .Leo trying to figure it all out. But choosing Man vs. Society, he is also against the student body and what they are doing, and he is trying to fight it. He is fighting with them over himself basically, and his reputation. This is why I chose Man vs. Society as my conflict this week.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict of the story is man vs. society. I think that, because the society ( student body) is giving Leo the silent treatment just for hanging out with Stargirl. The society is trying to force Leo away from Stargirl by just simply ignoring him and Stargirl.
ReplyDeleteI’m defending man vs. society. One reason star girl is man vs. society is that she is facing everybody giving her the silent treatment. Another reason is that the student body is blaming her for cheering for the other team. The final reason is that Leo is ignoring her because she put up that sign.
ReplyDeleteThe conflict that I did not support facts from in the last home work was man vs. self. The conflict could also be man vs. self because Leo has to choose if he wants to hang out with star girl and be given the silent treatment or to be like the school and not like her. Another reason this could be the conflict is because he doesn't want to be a nobody he wants to get attention and be liked by the other students. Also Leo does not like being in the spotlight so if he hangs out with Stargirl, Stargirl will most likely put him on the spot.
ReplyDeleteLast week I wrote about Man vs Self. This week I will use Man vs Society, as it said in the book poor little dolphin caught in a tuna net. So that is one way of showing how society acts towards Leo and Stargil. Also Society excludes both of them because oof what happened at the basketball games. Another tthing is that when Leo walks down the hall people ignore him because he likes Stargirl. Finally when Stargirl wrote that she loved Leo on that bed sheet no one cared in the school except for Leo who was mainly horrified.
ReplyDeleteLast week I wrote about man vs. self. This week i am defending man vs. society. He has to deal with people giving stargirl a hard time. He also has to deal with the students shunning him. And he has to deal with all the students at lunch and the whole day. Its either they make fun of him or they dont even say a word to him.
ReplyDeleteI think the conlict is Man vrs. Society. I chose this conflict because everyone is giving Stargirl the " Silent Treatment" and since Leo is with her its also focused onto him. Another reason is that Leo hears everyone talking about them when they walk through the halls. Finaly the last reason is that everone calls stargirl wierd and Leo feels he has to defend her.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict in stargirl is Man vs Society becuase loe wouldn't be trying to enore her if his friends didn't talk to him and another reason i belive this is because everyone don't like them going out that's why i think it is Man vs Society.
ReplyDeleteThis also can be Man vs. self because leo is facing a hudge problem within himself. He was told to pick between stargirl or the student body and eitherway depending on his decision he will lose someone or sombody that means alote to him.
ReplyDeleteI am defending man vs. society because stargirl is being shunned by the school so society is against this one person. I am also defending man vs. society because everyone is shunning stargirl which once again shows how the conflict could be man vs. society.
ReplyDeleteThe main conflict in Stargirl is man vs. society. I think this because of Leo and Stargirl are being shunned and Leo needs a way to deal with it. Another reason is that Leo hates being center of attenton. Finally, Leo has to deal with Stargirl's affection for him and "obession with other people" get as strong as an oak tree.
ReplyDeleteI think that the primary conflict in Stargirl now is man vs society because Leo is facing a decision against the student body of Mica High and Stargirl and he is sometimes afraid to be seen with Stargirl. He has only one friend now and that is Kevin because everyone else is ignoring him. As he walks down the hallway with Stargirl not even a sleeve from another student brushes his shirt. It bothers him that nobody likes him because he is dating Stargirl. The reason they don't like her is because she would cheer for the other team when she was a cheerleader. And that effects Leo now. These are some of the reasons that I think the conflict is man vs society.
ReplyDeleteThis week I am defending the Man vs. Society conflict. "Stargirl" is a Man vs. Society conflict because of all the bullying. One example is the shunning or silent treatment that the student body is giving Leo and Stargirl. Once Leo starts to hangout with Stargirl he realizes that no one is talking to them or even getting close to them. Another example is when Renshaw completely ignored Leo when he called out to him. This made Leo feel completely alone and upset. The last example is when Stargirl posted a big bed sheet on the roadrunner that said "Stargirl loves Leo". Leo was mortified but no one felt any sympathy for him so he got very upset. He got so upset that he was very mean to Stargirl. These examples represent why "Stargirl" has a Man vs. Self conflict.
ReplyDeletei am doing man vs self. Leo had a choice to make awhile ago it was picking the love of stargirl of the friendship of all the people in school. He picked stargirl the whole school is not talkimg to him any more when he is stargirl. He needs to be noticed by other people to make sure he is alive. man vs self
ReplyDeleteLast week I defended Man vs. Society. This week I will defend Man vs. Self. I think it is Man vs. Self because Leo doesn't know what to choose, his friends or Stargirl. I remember that Leo said he knew the answer to the question, but he didn't want to think of it. Leo doesn't want to be ignored by his friends or peers anymore, but he also wants to be Stargirls boyfriend. I think that he is going to choose his friends over Stargirl. This is because he won't be able to stand the fact that no one is speaking to him.
ReplyDeleteLast week I wrote about man vs. society. This week I am writing about man vs. self. Leo has to make a decision on his own to pick if he wants to be friends with Stargirl or to be friends with all of the other kids at school.
ReplyDeleteNOTE: I didnt do my HW last week so I'll just pick Man vs. Self to defend!
ReplyDeleteI think it is man vs. self because Leo has to choose between Stargirl and his popularity. It can't really be man vs. society because that confict appeared after Leo was told about his choices
Last week I wrote a man vs. society so this week
ReplyDeleteI will right a man vs. self conflic.
I think that leo has a man vs. self conflict because when he goes with Archy into the desert, Archy talks to the plant and he say "Who's affection do you value more her's or their's. Now that Leo has to answer this question he is torn between Stargirl and the school and his friends. But somthing has happend in the book this week that got Leo real mad at Stargirl. Leo is mad at Stargirl because she hung this big sheet that says Stargirl loves Leo, so now I think that Leo is going to choose Stargirl.
last week i wrote about a man vs. self conflict and this week I will write about a man vs. society. It could be a man vs. society because the student body was shunning him when he was with Stargirl. That is the only reason I think it could be man vs. society.
ReplyDeleteLAst week I wrote about the conflict man vs. self. This week I will write about man vs. society. Leo Has to make a decision about who's afection does he value more his classmates (society) or Stargirls. The society have been a big part of the book because the classmates always like or now dislike stargirl because she does. I predict at the and of the book Stasrgirl will change everyone.
ReplyDeleteLast week I thought that the main conflict in "Stargirl was man vs. self. This week I think that the conflict could also be a man vs. society conflict. One reason I think this is because Leo (the man) is being almost paranoid about what the student body (the society) thinks about him. Another reason I think this is because Leo is choosing whether he wants the school to like him or not because he likes Stargirl, but he is also worried about the shunning the student body is giving him. Those are my reasons why I think the conflict could also be man vs. society
ReplyDeleteLast week I wrote about Man vs. Society. This week I am writing about Man vs. Self as the conflict in the book Stargirl. I think Stargirl the book can be Man vs. Self because Leo has to deal with forces inside of himself. The problems he has inside of himself is that he is now in a position were he doesnt know what he wants more Stargirl or the student body. Leo is going through problems with himself because he is with Stargirl he is being ignored by the student body and being stared at in the hallways for being with stargirl and it makes him feel uncomfortable because Leo hates being in the spotlight,so him being with Stargirl causes conflict within himself because he wants to be with Stargirl but the pressure of the student body makes him guestion himself. That is why I think Man vs. Self could become the conflict in Stargirl.
ReplyDeleteThis week i am defending man Vs. Society. Leo has to deal with people giving him the silent treatment because who hes with.Antother thing is that no one cared about the Bed sheet exept for leo. This Makes me think more about leo choosing to Leave Stargirl and move on.
ReplyDeleteI think it's man vs. Society because stargirl has trouble with the kids at school not herself. For example when she helped that guy at the basketball game who got hurt they hated her because she was helping the opposite team. Another example is when she cheered for the other team when they lost to give them credit even thou they were losing the booed her and through a tomato.
ReplyDeletePs it's Kim Lennon sorry if it's late
I think that this conflict now is man vs society because Leo is starting to fall under the pressure so I think That Leo is going to maby chose society over stargirl and I think that he is then going to realize that he had did the wrong thing And he will chose stargirl in the end
ReplyDeleteI think that the conflict is man vs. society because, Leo told archie about the shunning, so archie said, "poor dolphin caught in a tuna net." that represents leo(dolphin), Stargirl(tuna), and the student body(tuna net).
ReplyDeleteI think the coflict could also be man vs. society because Leo has to deal with the shunning around the school and how everyone is ignoring him and Stargirl. The school is really mad at Stargirl for cheering for the opposing team at the games, but since Leo is her friend, he feels the shunning is aimed at him too. Leo wants to have friends in school, but he is also upset because he thinks the school has no right to be mad at Stargirl for being nice or rather him just for being her friend. Leo is unhappy with the way the student body is acting.
ReplyDeleteFor man vs self I remember that stargirl use to get ignored and leo went up to her just to help her between the student body and it would be dificult for leo to lose a friend and that would effect him.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict is man vs self because Leo had lots of feeling for stargirl and he knew she liked him but he didnt know how to express it. Leo then goes to Stargirl's house and somehow Stargirl knows he is there and they have a long conversation. Another reason why it's man vs self is because Leo is sad because nobody really notices him since him and Stargirl are dating. The last reason why it is man vs self is because when he went to Archie's, he talked to Senor Sagauro and he says do you care about Stargirl or the others.
ReplyDeletei think that Man vs. society. the reason are he has to get the silent treatment and that he wants to talk the student but he cant because of stargirl and kevin doesnt talk to him ether.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I did both last week in one paragraph so I will do Man VS. Society. I think the conflict currently happening is Man VS. Society . I feel this way because for Stargirl she is having to deal with the school making fun of her. Leo is also having to deal with this because he is dating Stargirl and no one gives him attention anymore after Stargirl declared her love for Leo, he felt as the only people who would talk to him are Kevin and Stargirl. I feel he is feeling as Stargirl has trapped him in her love and he can't escape. This is why I feel the conflict is Man VS.Society.
ReplyDeleteSorry about this late post but I am having a problem sending this through. Thank You.
The primary conflict in Stargirl is now man vs. society. One reason I think this is because Leo is really shy, but when he hangs out with Stargirl he becomes the center of attention, because the whole school teases him for hanging out with her by calling him things like Starboy. Another reason I think the conflict is man vs. society is because Leo is too afraid to show his true feelings for Stargirl because he's afraid of the schools reaction. One last reason is that Everyone is giving Stargirl the silent treatment because they think she was the reason they lost their basketball game.
ReplyDeletei believe the conflict is man vs. society because Leo and stargirl are being ignored by the society. People aren’t even acknowledging them. Its like they don’t even exist.
ReplyDeleteI think the conflict is man vs. society because Leo is being treated differently by other people. For example Leo is getting the silent treatment by everyone. Another example is when Leo saw the bed sheet he didn't want anyone else to see it. One more reason is that everyone was shunning him because he was Stargirl's boyfriend. That is why the conflict is man vs. society.
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs. Puccio,
ReplyDeleteDid my homework go through? Because I did both Stargirl HW's when they were due but they never showed up and I got two zero's. But I redid it this week and I still have two zero's. Should I do it again?
